Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 166! |
Pack 166 is the Scouting organization for boys age 6 through 10 living in the Canyon Creek neighborhood of northwest Austin. The Pack also draws Scouts from nearby Cedar Park and Anderson Mill. Pack 166's annual program includes at least two campouts a year. We also take two overnight trips annually -- to places like Moody Gardens, the Ft. Worth Zoo, the USS Lexington, and NASA's Space Center Houston. Every year, our Scouts race each other in the spring Pinewood Derby, the summer Raingutter Regatta, and the Space Derby. | | The Pack consists of several dens. There are one or two dens for each age (i.e., first through fourth grade) group in the Pack. Each den engages in activities to earn the Cub Scout rank (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) designed for their age and abilities. All the activities in Scouting are designed to be fun for the boys, while at the same time teaching character, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership skills. The Pack is sponsored by St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Pack members who "cross over" into Boy Scouts often join Boy Scout Troop 159 (www.bsatroop159.org), which is also sponsored by the St. Thomas More Church. Pack 166 is about twenty years old. In early 2009, the Pack had about sixty boys in nine dens, with about twenty to twenty-five volunteer adult leaders. | Pack 166 is part of the Chisholm Trail District, Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. | | If you're a boy six to ten in Northwest Austin, come join the fun!!
